Job description:
The University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS), Office of Experiential Programs (OEP) is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Experiential Programs at the faculty rank of assistant or associate professor. SSPPS is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus with state-of-the-art educational facilities designed to foster interprofessional education; superb research facilities to grow the research enterprise; and three hospitals to support and enhance clinical research and practice endeavors. OEP is led by the Director of Experiential Programs who is supported by two Assistant Directors of Experiential Programs and all three hold clinical/teaching track appointments in the school’s Department of Clinical Pharmacy. This position has primary responsibility for the administrative aspects and educational outcomes of all experiential courses in the school’s entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy degree program. In addition, it shares responsibility with the Office of Distance Degree Programs for the administrative aspects and the educational outcomes of all experiential courses in the school’s non-traditional and international Doctor of Pharmacy degree programs. The Assistant Directors are expected to produce scholarly works targeted at the publication of educational research including research related to experiential programs. In addition, the Assistant Directors are expected to teach, provide service to the school and the pharmacy profession and to pursue professional development.

More specifically, this positions develops, sustains and assesses core and elective elements in the school’s advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) and introductory pharmacy practice experience (IPPE) programs; conducts APPE and IPPE program continuous quality improvement activities; co-ordinates introductory professional development courses; teaches students in the school’s IPPE and APPE programs; participates in the teaching of pharmacist certification courses (e.g. immunization and medication therapy management courses); counsels students with respect to problems and other issues related to preceptors, practice sites and experiential course activities; designs and/or implements preceptor development initiatives; conducts experiential practice site visits; participates in other elements of the school’s professional curriculum, including serving as course director, providing didactic instruction, or assisting with student assessment activities; participates as a member of the Experiential Education Committee; establishes a scholarly program focused on a specific area of educational or experiential programs research; publishes the results of scholarly work in peer-reviewed academic journals; participates in professional service activities such as university or school committee work, participation in professional organizations, and attendance at seminars, conferences, special courses, and scientific meetings; and supervises an Outreach Coordinator.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Applicants must have a Pharm.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and be licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a pharmacist in Colorado. Candidates with experience in health system pharmacy practice, development of health system experiential training sites, Internet-based patient care management programs and advanced training through a residency and/or fellowship program and/or academic experience and/or board certification are preferred.
